Winter is well and truly here, with the temperature dropping suddenly in the last couple of days. If you haven’t yet readied your closet for the chilly days to come, now is the time to do that. While most people hold to the steadfast belief that winter wardrobes comprise of depressing greys, and dull neutrals, we at StyleAria disagree. Although the monochromatic outfits never cease to be trendy, we always appreciate a splash of color in our winter dressing.
This season (Fall/ Winter 2014), rich and dark color tones like teal, burgundy, cranberry and honey mustard were dominating the fashion runways world over. Hot Pink has also made a timely comeback, and is expected to be a street style favorite among twenty something women who take their style seriously.
We took the liberty of rounding up these must have shades of winter in your season’s wardrobe!
Cranberry – The deep metallic shade of red is a mega hit this season. So make sure you have a jacket or some evening clothes in cranberry if you want to keep your stylish diva status.
Hot Pink – A huge cliche, yes, but hot pink has been an eternal favorite of the girls since the dawn of humanity it seems. But while previously associated with young girls and teenagers, hot pink has now risen to the ranks of sophisticated colors and women in their twenties are carrying off the hue with elegance too.
Deep Emerald – Another classic, this color is the ultimate chic choice for structured jackets and tailored coats.
Teal – This particular shade of bluish green has long been the color of elegant evening wear. Make it a part of your winter closet but experiment slightly in prints and styles, maybe wearing it as a pair of coolly casual pants.
Orchid – It’s not really blue and not entirely purple, but orchid is on our list of absolute favorites this season. It’s sophisticated, classy and chic to boot.
Honey Mustard – No wardrobe is ever complete without a little yellow in it. And while bright yellows are faux pas this season, the muted honey mustard tone is well-appreciated.
Wine – Wine Red has been a winter classic forever, and it is definitely back this season too.
Crimson – A brighter shade of red (not the in-your-face kind) is another staple for the chilly months ahead. Wear it in prints to tone down it’s brightness if it is bothersome to you.
