It might not be a gross exaggeration to say that there are hundreds of ways to wear a scarf. Style Aria scoured the internet and we picked out the chicest 10 ways to wear your scarf this season. Set twisting, knotting and braiding your scarf while at the same time giving your outfit a subtle edge.
So here goes!
1. The BT Standard (Also popularly known as the French Twist) – It’s easy to tie and will pretty up any outfit in under 3 minutes!
2. Knotted Necklace – Wrap the scarf behind your neck. Take one end and wrap it around your hand. Pull it through to make a loose knot. Take the other scarf end and pull it through the side knot, going under the knot loop and then over.
3. The Faux Knot – Much easier to tie than it looks, this is a style to definitely try this winter!
4. The Braided – This one requires a little bit of patience and practice before you can master it. Take a long scarf and put it behind your neck. Tie a loose half knot with the ends. Take the right end and cross it over the left then pull it under the scarf loop and over. Let it hang down and grab the left end (now on the right side) and cross it over the other end and pull it up and over. Repeat until the ends are too short to loop. Pull the braid to loosen it and then knot the short end pieces together.
5. The Barcelona – You’ll need a longer scarf or a stole for this look. But rest assured, it’s pretty easy to pull off!
6. The Turtleneck – Drape scarf over shoulder, with one end significantly longer than the other end. Loop the longer end around your neck three or four times in the same direction. Tie a simple overhand knot with both ends of the scarf, and then tie another overhand knot to get rid of most excess fabric. Fit the knot underneath the loop so that no excess fabric is showing.
7. The Infinity Loop – Here’s how you can create your own infinity scarf using a regular one!
8. The Twist – This twisted look is almost like a long scarf necklace.
9. The West Village – This simple knotted style looks so utterly chic!
10. The Gamechanger – This one is the simplest way! Tuck your scarf under a belt over a plain tee for a unique look.

]]>Sequins skirt:
While wearing the bottom half of your outfit dominated by sequins, it is always preferable that you go minimal on the top. Choose from a variety of nude hues and sheer. An easy way to pair up a sequins pencil skirt or bodycon is to team it up with horizontal stripes and court shoes. Remember, you want something roomy up to balance the snug fit. Also, denim shirts work wonders over sequins skirts and we are sure that you would agree with Jessica Szohr!
Sequins top:
As for sequins tops – Boyfriend jeans work out the best. Ripped patterns and slim fits teamed with a white blazer will work out as a good option if you don’t want to go solo on sequins. We recommend you wear darker denims for a pear body shape.
Sequins clutch:
If the outfit alone is not working for you, carrying a sequins clutch along will be the best alternative to any other accessory. Make sure to not wear extremely loud colours or bling in the outfit if you wish to carry a sequins clutch along.
Do-It-Yourself:
The best part about sequins is that it can easily be incorporated in any ensemble. Whether it is a shirt, clutch, accessory or footwear. A ‘sequin’ is a simple plastic object when put together in number, appears as if it is shimmer or bling.
To make your outfit ‘sequin like’, all you have to do is fashion a string of sequin pieces in the design of your choice or cover a cloth piece (for example, shirt collar) with ready-made sequins cloth, readily available in the market.

]]>THE WORST
One Earring – The runways this year mandated for you to choose a generously sized pair of earrings with a strange catch: just wear one of them. But the feeling is weird and, for bystanders who are not fashionably inclined, they’d just think, “Did she forget to put her other earring?” or worse, “Poor girl. She lost her earring.” We don’t want that, do we?
Furry Soled Shoes – Comfortable? Probably. Worth looking like you slid stuffed animals into your mules? Probably not.
Too-Micro Bags -When we said miniature bags are in next year, we didn’t mean ridiculously teeny-tiny handbags. You know, the types that are only acceptable if worn by Barbie dolls? These bags are cute for sure but what’s the point of even bringing one if you can barely fit your phone in it?
Elongated Sleeves – Céline and Stella McCartney introduced the “super sleeves,” with lengths that extend beyond your hands. Chic as they may look on the runways, we think you should still prioritize dexterity over anything else.
Sarong Pants – The giveaway is in the name. Is it a sarong? Is it a pant? The objects in question have a slice of fabric cut diagonally across the front of the pants, and tie on the side of the waist, just like a sarong. Only they’re pants. It’s the equivalent of wearing a sarong skirt over a pair of pants, so if you really want to buy into the bizarre trend without forking over $1000 on a designer pair, you can just do that.
THE BEST
Boudoir Dressing – Gone are the days when sexy silk dresses were just meant for the bedroom. This year, brands like Balenciaga and Céline allowed them to see the light of day. We can see you making that come-hither look with extra style mileage until next year and probably beyond, even!
A-line Mini Skirts – Worn atop bare legs or tights, they’re seasonless and leg-lengthening: a winning combo.
Bare Shoulders – This year’s erogenous zone of choice is your shoulder area. Off-shoulder dresses, bikini tops, and bandage tops are the pieces that took the forefront all year-long. Who knew that our very shoulders, which we often tend to hide, are actually a secret asset we should continue showing off?
Nerdy Bohemian – Did Gucci just become the newest trendsetter of the year? Ever since Alessandro Michele joined the famed Italian brand, nerdy bohemian has gotten everyone excited all-year round. Think ruffled floral dresses styled with geeky frames and berets and printed suits matched with loafers and brightly hued ties. Yes, Alessandro is actually the best thing that happened to fashion this 2015.
Monochrome and Neutrals – If we were to look at the street style outfits of the stars, we’d be bombarded with tons of monochromatic looks and chic neutrals. Real-life dressing has been pared down and it’s never looked this enticing to wear! Kendall Jenner made white and beige the coolest color palette and many rocked black-on-black à la Gigi Hadid. Amid the maximalist trends of the year, subtle fashion choices will continue to rule the streets well into the next few months.
Ponchos – Cozy and statement-making, we pray that these guys stay around for years to come. (Not least because we’re this close to justifying the investment of a midnight suede fringe situation.)
Culottes – We’ve said it time and time again: Culottes might be the perfect pants. They can be dressed up or dressed down, and the billowy breeze isn’t half bad.
Dhoti Pants – One of the absolute best trends of Indian occasion-wear. We now have a refreshingly different choice of clothing to pick instead of the classic Lehenga and Palazzos. Come wedding season, you can bet we’ll be pairing our cholis, kurtas and crop tops with super stylish dhoti pants, for the ultimate chic effect.
What was your favorite trend of 2015 and which one you’d rather leave behind in the year past? Tell us in the comments section below!

Gucci achieved total front-row domination. When Alessandro Michele took the reins at the house the horse-bit loafer built in January, Gucci was widely regarded as having lost its oomph, creatively and commercially. Jump ahead one season, and the newly renovated store in Milan was being pillaged by rampaging editors, and seemingly half of the front row was turned out in looks from Michele’s debut collection, from his kangaroo-fur-lined house slipper loafers to his green and burgundy floral suits. The month of January also saw the catwalk comeback of John Galliano who staged his first show for Margiela in London, where the only scandal was the late arrival of Kate Moss.
Caitlyn Jenner and Taraji P. Henson raised the celebrity style stakes. With Caitlyn Jenner’s Zac Posen bustiers and her Versace gown, her emergence as a fashion figure and her embrace of old-school glamour spurred a new debate about what it means to be “feminine.” At the same time, dominating the small screen and the red carpet was Taraji P. Henson, whose breakthrough character, Cookie Lyon of “Empire,” unabashedly embraced hi-bling (Moschino, Versace and Tom Ford), while the actress portraying her strutted her own brand of understated, streetwise cool.
Age did not affect influence. One of the fastest movers of product turned out to be Princess Charlotte. The latest addition to the British royal family proved she was as much a fashion influencer as her mother and older brother, causing a sellout in smocked floral dresses by the Spanish label M & H when her latest pictures appeared, much as Prince George did for Rachel Riley smocked rompers and Petit Bateau overalls. Malia Obama was a close runner-up, proving it’s not just Disney stars who set the tone for the younger set. Can Saint West be far behind?
Gender nonconformity went from reality to runway. The divide between menswear and womenswear is seeming ever more pointless, as labels like Vetements, Telfar and Public School mix boys and girls on the runway and in the wardrobe. Fashion reflects society, after all, and we are in a gender-nonconformist age. Why shouldn’t all consumers be able to dress the part? And this is no fad: Pantone’s color of 2016 is a duo – rose quartz and serenity – where pink fades into blue and vice versa.
There was an earthquake in French fashion. Alexander Wang and Balenciaga agreed to part ways after three years, Wang to concentrate on his own brand, and Balenciaga to hire Demna Gvasalia, the frontman of the in-your-face upstart collaborative Vetements, known for its gritty Margiela-influenced deconstructed streetwear. In October, the fashion industry was rocked by the news that Raf Simons was bowing out at Dior as artistic director after three and a half years for “personal reasons”, leaving the in-house design team to hold the fort, a tactic that is now quite familiar within the industry. And there were varying degrees of hysteria when the perennially affable designer Alber Elbaz left Lanvin under a cloud in the same month.
Generational change hit New York. The big three that defined and dominated New York fashion for decades (Donna, Ralph and Calvin) are down to one – or maybe even 0.75. This was the year Donna Karan joined Calvin Klein in jumping off the hamster wheel, although unlike Klein, Karan was not replaced, and her namesake main line is no more. Instead, LVMH, the owner of Donna Karan International, has doubled down on DKNY, appointing Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow, the buzzy designers of Public School, to the label.
Fast fashion became a hot mess. It was an annus horribilis for the old American standbys Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch and J. Crew, with falling sales and what seemed like a disappearing consumer base. The bright spot was Target, which broke the Internet with its Lilly Pulitzer limited edition, as did H&M with its Alexander Wang and Balmain collaborations.
Nudity was the new black (tie). From the Met Gala to the Grammys, the newsmaking looks on the red carpet looked awfully see-through. Beyoncé, J. Lo, Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus duked it out in the barely-dressed stakes, suggesting that when it came to statement-making entrances, less was more.
It’s a Darwinian fashion world out there, and not every brand survives. This was the year we said farewell to Band of Outsiders, as well as the namesake labels of Reed Krakoff, Kris von Assche and Jonathan Saunders. Marc by Marc Jacobs was absorbed into Marc Jacobs, and Burberry London, Burberry Brit and Burberry Prorsum are being merged into Burberry.
Finally special mention goes to Rihanna, whose services to fashion reached a high watermark in May of this year when she wore that brilliantly memorable omelette dress by Chinese designer Guo Pei to the Met Ball and became the first black woman to be the face of Dior. Both historic moments that 2015 should be thankful for.

1. Tell our readers more about your label Ladiessmokly that’s been newly launched in India.
I created Ladiessmokly last April, I wanted to create something that reflected my signature style and basically something I usually wear. These dresses are not everyday wear but party dresses for special outings when girls like to dress it up – like going to the club or a romantic date! My thought behind this was that “good dresses take you good places” and this is I want to express in my clothing line. Most of the names of these dresses are towns I have visited.
2. How do you maintain your delightful curves? Tell us about your workout regime!
I love going to the gym and sweating it out 3 times a week there, but I never overdo it. I believe every girl must feel comfortable with her body without overexertions and I feel the same way! I eat anything I want, obviously with some nominal care, but I focus mostly on eating healthy. Eating is such a pleasure, I’d never give it up!
3. How influential do you feel social media (Facebook & Instagram specifically) is with concern to the success of your brand?
In the present times, social media is the most important way to showcase your talent, your personality and your abilities to a much wider audience. The success of my brand is absolutely based on this. Larger accessibility is everything to an online selling brand. Facebook and especially Instagram gives me that. Nowadays, girls need fashion and style inspiration, they go on Instagram! And it’s so much easier to shop online – so much more variety with countless brands selling!
4. What is the secret to your flawless skin?
I often use coffee scrub and hydrating cremes. One time a week I use masks for my face – they are necessary for rejuvenation. During winter months, I love using coconut oil because I think it works great on so many levels like toning, lightening scars and hydrating the facial skin.
5. Do you follow a particular diet that helps enhance your glow?
My only diet – that I strictly stick to – is eating healthy food six days out of seven. People shouldn’t focus too much on what they eat or follow some set diet. I think if you eat healthy food you won’t gaining weight the wrong way and you will feel good about your body and self!
6. What would be a few useful makeup tips that you could give our readers?
I really love make-up and I am literally addicted to so many products! For me, an absolute must for the lips is Bobby Brown lipgloss, my favourite color is light pink or nude. And I like Mac beauty products too, i think they are the highest quality love you can give to your skin – especially for foundations and face powder.

So if you’re looking to stock up on these wardrobe mainstays, here are 5 must-have skirt styles you need to have.
Printed Skirts – It was back in 2013 when printed skirts came to be and they have maintained their status until now because more and more designers are incorporating art into their fabrics. A design of a printed skirt can range from floral, to abstract, to patterns, or even to a tribute to Star Wars. Simply put—there are so many prints out there that fit every fashionista’s personality. So add a dash of fun to your wardrobe by stocking up on a range of printed skirts.
Midi Skirts – If you’re not comfortable with a mini-skirt but don’t like a full-length one either, then the midi- skirt is for you! It falls till just below the knees and is considered a very pretty hemline. Whether it’s body-con or flowy, a midi-skirt is the classiest choice of them all. They look especially great when paired with high heels and a simple tee. Midi skirt is a must have closet item because they are the “go to” skirt for this season!
Circle/ Flared Skirts – The circle skirt accentuates a woman’s body pretty well—tight on the waist and flared out at the bottom, giving you an hourglass figure. Pair it with a fitted top, or tuck it in to balance out the shape.
Maxi Skirts – Contrary to popular belief, a full-length skirt looks good on both tall and petite girls. Get one with slits on both sides if you want to flaunt your legs, or a buy an ombre-coloured one for summer vacations, or get a floral-printed one for that carefree, hippie vibe.
Pencil Skirts – Pencil skirts have always complimented formal, business attire; paired with formal shirts, blouses and blazers. However, they have taken a turn for the informal recently. Pencil skirts with floral prints, aztec prints and various other quirky prints make for perfect ‘dining out’ outfits or day wear outfits. They accentuate your curves and high waist pencil skirts, even make your waist look slimmer. The length is usually a few inches below the knee. They add a sassy, elegant yet chic angle to your attire.

Drawing inspiration from the garment that’s synonymous with the Indian woman, Kapur went so deep into her research, that the drapes and pleats of the sari started resonating with the subculture of punk, driven from the never-ending quest of establishing individuality, originality and a DIY spirit that defined the 70’s punk era. The Pallus became hoodies, the hint of the sari waist and the back became the tears and slashes that were associated with punk.
The clothes also featured mesh panels that were laser cut to form Mughal Jali inspired motifs. The color palette was mainly soothing neutrals with a some blues and pinks thrown in sparingly. Fabrics used in the collection were majorly crepes and georgettes, which were accentuated with strips of patent leather.
Though we’re not sure if the sporty sari will stick around as a classic wardrobe item, but we are super glad for its refreshing break of monotony! With every new season comes a lot of different new versions of the classic Sari, but we have to say… 431-88 by Shweta Kapur’s version was the best one we saw in a long time.

With her constant style inspiration and fashion photos, Arantza keeps her admirers asking for more. Be it travel or just a day out in the sun, this fashion femme knows how to work it. Instagram has taken connecting and socializing on a different level. The platform is more about delivering an experience without words.
We bring her feature interview, loaded with the fashionista’s style and tips for a great instagram throne she rightly reigns.
You surely come across as a traveler in style . Do you have a favorite city or place, that you would love to travel to?
I do try to travel as much as I can. One of my favorite places in the US that I have been is Colorado. Anything that has to do with mountains and hiking and outdoors is absolutely my favorite! However my DREAM place to visit in this world is Greece. I hope to fulfill that dream one day.
Your instagram selfies are beautiful and inspiring.IS there a makeup routine you follow before the pics? We would love to know some tips.
A lot of my pictures, just have my everyday natural look.Where it is nothing too heavy and I also don’t use “expensive make-up”. The only thing I do use are just drug store products. Some tips I would say do your make up how you feel comfortable. If its wearing no makeup, or wearing bright colors for your everyday look, then go for it! To me the definition of beauty is for a woman to feel comfortable in her skin. If it’s either looks then I say go for it. We are all different and have various looks, we just need to learn how to embrace each look and work it! I am working on developing a YouTube channel with makeup tutorials and fashion tips. Should keep an eye out, I will be launching it in the next few weeks.
We love that most of your instagram pics are in a natural scene. How you choose your instagram backdrops?
I choose my background scenes based on the shoot that I want to do. For example if it’s a summer shoot I usually want to shoot in a place where there is a lot of “greens”. If it is a fall shoot, I love to shoot with trees and their colorful. If it’s just a casual look then any nature background would look great. I do drive around Houston to find spots.
Which category of Instagrams would you say has the most comments or follower-ship? why do you think that is?
I think that the category of Instagram that would have the most comments or fellowship are the pages that are unique and inspirational. I think that because those are the most powerful types of inspiration. People who are different and unique in their own ways. People who have an inspirational story and are wanting to make a change in this world.
Who helps you take the captivating instagram pics when they aren’t selfies?
My younger sister is someone who has always helped me out through my whole life. She always takes my pictures and even gives me FANTASTIC ideas on fashion. She’s someone who is a great inspiration to me.
Your instagrams spotlights your flawless skin, any secrets you would like to share?
A secret I would like to share about my “spotlight flawless skin” is to ALWAYS see your lighting. Lighting can make a huge difference. Work the angle that does best to your skin.
Your instagram follower-ship is ever increasing. What do you think attracts that kind of inspiration?
I think the type of inspiration I’m generating is that my page is simply who I am and being able to showcase my loves of this life. Whether its my cats, or makeup, or modeling I make sure it’s unique and unlike anything out there.
How much behind-the -scene work goes into your images on instagram?
Actually a lot of work does happen behind scenes on my Instagram pictures. When I do a shoot I take about 500 images and having to find a good one takes FOREVER! and then from there I ask for advice to my friends and family which one looks better and so on.
Any latest fashion trend/ style you are following?
Not at this moment
What photo editing apps would you recommend for instagram pics?
A great app that I do use a lot if called “BeFunky” and another I do love to use is “PhotoCandy.”
Two of my all time favorites.
Any exciting projects that you’re looking forward to this year ?
A huge project I am working on is launching my YouTube channel in the next few weeks. To give both fashion advice and makeup tutorials. I hope to launch it by the end of this year.

Known for his exaggerated artistic creations, Sabyasachi showcased a lot of structural style in his couture collection, presenting both modern and eccentric design with his shape-skimming creations. Among the offerings in the Sabyasachi and Louboutin collaboration were romantic saris paired with floor-grazing capes, short dresses, feminine maxis, skirts, jumpsuits, bold accessories (including spiked clutches), and of course, spectacular shoes – every piece essential and a must have to a couture wardrobe.
The models wore Louboutin’s iconic scarlet soles during the Sabyasachi show, the vibrant color reflected in a handful of designers trademark designs, making for a true pairing of the aesthetics of both Sabyasachi and Louboutin.
Falling right above expectations, the much-anticipated Sabyasachi and Louboutin shoe creations showcased in the collection were nothing short of spectacular. Edgy embellishments, feminine floral appliqués work and adorned the stacked stilettos with chic elegant heeled sandals. Men’s styles for the collection feature a rather romantic vintage flair, with delicate laces and dapper loafer designs. Perfectly complementing and harmonizing the exquisite couture fashions of the collection, each pair of shoes reflect Sabyasachi’s elaborate design aesthetic.
The first Indian designer to collaborate with Louboutin, Sabyasachi called the pairing a “wish fulfillment.” And he wasn’t the only one absolutely smitten with the collaboration. “I like designs that have a heritage and history attached to them. This is simply spectacular,” said Louboutin.

]]>This season, many designers have opted to use the luxurious material in an unexpected way – exclusively on the sleeves. With these styles, the commitment to fur is minimal, we are seeing the ” Less is more” approach. A touch of it at the sleeves is all it takes to add eye-catching texture and a head turning ensemble.
Fall can often be a tricky season to dress for, with weather being more unpredictable than the frigid temperatures of winter, when all you can do is cover up. Though a coat completely covered in fur may be appropriate for days that dip below freezing, mild weather requires a lighter touch of the beloved trend-this is where the fur sleeves play their fashion roles perfectly. Seamlessly transition into the crisp fall season with fur sleeves that reflect the vivid colors of changing leaves.
Demure colors and subtle palette creates a timeless piece, especially done for a coat. Whether it’s a classic black, a chic winter white or an elegant taupe, neutral colors pair well with anything, and can take you through multiple seasons. This fall, take your coat to the next level with fur sleeves in a contrasting shade. Though the overall look remains monochromatic, the various shades provide extra dimension to the coat, adding interest and depth. “Stand out” even when the weather says otherwise.

With designer name brands and world famous models as their muse, the show had something for everyone. Celebrating Fall and Winter fashion for the seasons to come, the show surely had some highlight moments. Brands like New York Life, B Michaels, Ralph Lauren brought their living catalogs to help us look chic even when we find snow on our boots.
Looking at the collections, we can only admire the inspiration, creation and attention to detail poured in by the designers. The awe-inspiring ensembles had fashion mavens all around the world talking. But, if you feel unsure about being able to rock them, let’s take a look at some of these trend setting styles that are easy to incorporate in your daily lifestyle.
Turtlenecks
The 90’s are back and for good. Not only seen as a great layering piece but a stunner element on its own. This runway favorite can be easily added under any outerwear, to have a chic style statement added to your garb. Pair it with a long skirt, when in doubt for the cool days.
Big Collars
This old Hollywood glam is making a big comeback just around the shoulder, although structured, the collars are perfect for adding or losing layers when you are trying to brave the season. In a blazer, coat or vest, the style is never felt to be too overpowering.
Gold
The one fashion trend that’s immortal-GOLD. Whether you love it in jewelry or on your own runway, Gold has a way to impress without the effort. Make this metallic trend the star of your clothing, by pairing t with black and other neutrals.
Casual Glamour
If you like to maintain a subtle yet glam persona, chances are your wardrobe is full of some casual everyday clothing and some party wear for occasions. NYFW2015 merged these polars. Adding the right amount of sequins and bling to give the casual clothing an edge, is as easy as it sounds. Give your outfit, the right amount of “girly” with this new trend.
Deep “V” Neckline
Contrary to popular fashion rules, the designers pushed the envelope with deep necklines and high slits in the long dress. We are loving this trend, for the versatility and variety it brings to the climate governed outfit.
Long Coats
If you too have a classic coat, that doubles as a statement piece; you are already half way there. As most stylists would tell you, this is a must have fall element. The bold choice, makes it a unique choice and the practicality of it, lets you pair it with innumerable outfit options. Whether it’s bright colored, fur coat, cape style or vest, make sure you are comfortable and love yourself in it.
Mens-wear inspired
Androgynous clothing has seen its fair share of trend setting styles. The same was showcased by designers like Ralph Lauren. The fashion element can be easily incorporated into office or formal wear. Another way to expand your wardrobe, and take some clothing off your guys closet. Who wouldn’t love that?
Bigger than your size
No need to get your clothing altered, we get the message loud and clear. The runway brought some great flair to ill-fitting, over the top size dresses, that were inspiring as they were intriguing.
Modern Head-wear
Gone are the days of hoodies and beanie caps for fall. The fashion week taught us to flaunt our cowboy side, with wide edge hats paired with sleek pants. We are definitely loving this new take on the head-wear.
Tell us your fashion favs from the NYFW 2015 in the comments below.
]]>1. Head to Toe Prints – Quirky all-over prints are big this season. Think lots of colors coming together to create intriguing prints. Many designers like Kristy De Cunha, Masaba Gupta, Siddharth Bansal and Urvashi Joneja showcased to-die-for statement prints any girl would want to own. Opt for light and pastel shades to keep it subtle and stylish, if loud color prints are overwhelming to you.
2. Dhoti Pants – The one trend that stood out on the LFW runway was the stylish dhoti pants. From a cropped knee length to chic ankle lengths, these were everywhere. You can pair them with cropped tops, short kurtis and even maxi tops that open down the front.
3. Monochrome Prints – This is another trend that seems here for the long haul. It was one of the biggest trends this season and many designers like AM:PM, Ilk, Payal Singhal, Tarun Tahiliani amongst others showcased a lot of monochrome. It is very easy to carry off the trend. Just remember to add some color with your shoes, accessories or even your lipstick to keep the outfit interesting.
4. Gold – And the “new black” for this season is Gold. Gold embroideries on white or black made for the most amazing festive outfits. While Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla went all out and made flapper style gold dresses, designers like Ritu Kumar, Gaurang, Anita Dongre and Sonal Verma had a more minimalist use of gold. If you are not someone who loves too much bling, wear gold accessories instead. A statement neck piece, sequinned bag or a golden belt or even matte gold shoes will add to your outfit.
5. Sheer – The runway featured a lot of see-through fabrics this season. Designers like Namrata Joshipura, Nikhil Thampi and Monisha Jaising used a lot of sheer in their collection. If you’re not willing to go too daring, you can always opt for tops and dresses with sheer sleeves and backs.
6. Kimono Capes – From long colorful capes to monochrome floor length kimonos, they are all really big right now. The best part is they hide the extra flab and make you look oh-so-stylish. The collections of Arunima Majhi, ILK and Sreejith Jeevan saw a lot of kimono style jackets.
7. Floral Textures – It seems like florals will never go out of fashion. Be it spring-summer or autumn-winter, you will always looks good in pretty florals. Designers like Nachiket Barve, Neeta Lulla, Narendra Kumar used florals liberally in their collections.
8. Candy Pastels – Loud colors are out the window this season and so are neons. Bid them adieu and bring home pretty pastels instead, especially for your ethnic wear. Try to wear two to three pastel shades at the same time to add life to your look.
9. Stylized Saris – As usual, many designers tried to redefine the sari by bringing palazzo pants, dhoti pants and even churidaars into the picture. From AM:PM to Ritu Kumar and Swati Vijaivargie, designers did wonders with the classic sari. You can definitely go for a stylized sari look this wedding season!
10. Slit Sleeves – Buy yourself an outfit with slit sleeves, if you want to be in the running for Fashionista of the Year! It is one of the most prominent trends this season. Designer Anita Dongre, Ridhi Mehra and many others featured this trend in their collection. Avoid it altogether if you have way too skinny wrists.
11. Maxi Tops – Maxi tops were seen dominating the runway this season and will make it big soon on the streets. The best part about them is that they can be worn by women of any shape and size, with any style of pants and will always look stylish. Designers and brands like AM:PM, Antar-Agni, and Sangria had the maxi top trend ruling their collections.
12. Layering – Designers like Sreejith Jeevan, Swati Vijaivargie, and [Ka][Sha] amongst others, featured the layering trend predominantly in their collection. Just remember not to go too overboard with it, otherwise you will end up with a bulky look.
13. Earthy Neutrals – Subdued shades were seen everywhere this season, and predominant among them were earthy neutral tones. Colors like light browns, greys, and black are really ruling the ramp, if collections like Antar-Agni and Stephany D’Souza are anything to go by.
14. Monotone Outfits – Dress yourself in one color from head to toe this season, because the monotone trend is on the rise, especially when it comes to festive traditional wear.

]]>Women have always taken fancy to men’s wear- be it the androgynous suit-pant or carrying a box cut kurta in style. Designers are not hesitant in pushing the gender clothing styles. The fashion world is beginning to witness more of the “UN-GENDER” fusion styles. When designer Masaba Gupta crafted the short dhoti version of the sari for Sonam Kapoor, it instantly took news and became a head turner. The feisty trend spread like wildfire, which further led to newer breathtaking versions of the cut as displayed by Sougat Paul’s Soup. His tangerine pleated skirt paired with belted sea green top without the pallu version has given new meaning to the phrase sari.
The whimsical experimentation has now gone beyond the limits of fabric choice, extending to the petticoat and blouse. The new-age fashionista can now effortlessly pair a pre-constructed fusion sari with a pair of palazzo/dhoti pants to a movie, or earn style accolades by daring a lycra sari wrapped midway over a pair of tights/skinny jeans for a cocktail party. With the mélange of state-of-the-art fabrics, comfort elements, unconventional structure and a geographically border-less appeal, this classic heritage ensemble is no longer confined to conventional occasions or customary events. Moreover, they are now slowly paving their way into cocktail parties.
With the extinct of dhotis among the male clothing fashion, the designers have now geared up to save this traditional garb as a female outfit. In order to gel this ethnic outfit with current contemporary styles and to satisfy the younger generations’ staggering need for fashion greed, a handful of designers are now interpreting this utopia bygone garb for the modern women-on-the-go. Pairing it with unconventional pieces and inviting imagination and statement at every stage possible.

Blair was a classic beauty with a royally bold disposition, and her polished style translated into the masterful portrayal that captured the hearts of tastemakers around the globe. From the launch of cult-like trends — one word: headbands — to the crème de la crème of designer duds, it was Queen Bee who reigned supreme. Her style was uniquely preppy, always on point with the “primness” of it all. To our beloved B, wearing sweats anywhere outside of the gym was strictly unacceptable. Her love of vintage inspired coats, scarves and headbands is something legendary. If uber girly silhouettes, chic colorful prints, ladylike pantyhose and headbands are your style, then look to Queen B for fashion inspiration.
Though the luxe Gryphon caplet, brocade Alice + Olivia skirt, and moody Miu Miu Mary Janes are exquisite on their own, the Ann-Marie Faulkner beret really seals the Parisian-chic deal.
Serena van der Woodsen – If Blair was all about playing by fashion rules, Serena was all about breaking them. She threw caution to the winds and paired together the craziest outfits. It’s true that her designer-meets-bohemian-meets-preppy style that had us talking (and shopping) after every episode. Serena’s style was so perfect, with just the right amount of quirky edge, that it still gives us butterflies. Serena fearlessly wore 5 different kinds of prints together, or even donned gold blazers for day wear! If you love glamorous sequinned clothes, high boots, crazy prints and edgy cuts, and if you believe in making a basic jeans and tee outfit stylish by adding some choice accessories, your style BFF is clearly Serena!
Jenny Humphrey – From sweet little freshman to edgy goth designer, to Constance Queen Bee, Jenny’s transformation was the most dramatic of any character. Our sweet little Jenny started off at Constance as Blair’s most willing minion. Desperate to be popular (and usurp the throne), she pretty much dressed exactly like Blair, but with a more girlish twist. Once Jenny realized she didn’t need to impress Blair to prove her worth, things started to get… interesting. Colors got darker and hemlines got higher. Upper East Side Jenny’s style was what we call “Barbie Goth”. With Blair’s blessing, Queen J began her reign of terror as Queen of Constance, and rarely wore pants in the process. If “seriously edgy” is how you describe your style, if fishnet stockings, black and rocker girl chic is your thing, then look no further than Jenny Humphrey for inspiration.
